LPS To Exchange Spirit Park For Parcel Of Land Near U.S. 77 For Future Elementary School

By News Oct 14, 2020 | 11:42 AM

Soccer games played at Spirit Park could soon end.

The Lincoln Public Board of Education voted to approve a property exchange agreement with Southwest Folsom Development, LLC.

The agreement will transfer the entire 62.5 acre tract of real estate near 84th and O streets behind the State Farm office complex that is owned by LPS and allow the district to acquire more than 18 acres of real estate located north of W. Old Cheney Road between SW 12th and S. Folsom streets from the development group.

Southwest Folsom Development has 120 days to decide to complete the transaction.  If it’s completed, the development group will also pay LPS $2,330,000 for the property.

If Southwest decides not to participate in the transfer by exercising its due diligence option, LPS will continue with the purchase the property from the development group for the amount of $786,240 without transferring Spirit Park to Southwest and will not receive payment from Southwest.

Scott Wieskamp, director of operations, says even if the development group does not agree, there is still interest in other companies buying the land.

It’s likely that soccer could still be played in the spring of 2021 depending upon the timeline of the sale and development of the property.
