A traffic stop for a headlight out led to a woman behind bars charged with DUI.  Lincoln Police saw the vehicle southbound on North Cotner near Aylesworth Avenue.  When they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver took off.  While officers did not give chase, the drove around the area in search for of that vehicle

Several minutes later, officers saw the vehicle in Tyrell Park at 67th and Baldwin Street.  The Pontiac had hit the curb and driven about 60 years into the park.  There was no one inside.  Police followed footprints in the grass and they found 44 year old Dove Shannon nearby. She had suffered a cut to her hand and there was blood on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Shannon appeared to be under the influence of alcohol but she refused to provide a breath sample for a chemical test.  Officers also found a glass pipe with marijuana residue in her car.  Shannon was booked for operating a motor vehicle to flee to avoid arrest, refusal of a chemical test, DUI, driving with a revoked or suspended license, for fictitious plates, possession of drug paraphernalia and for possession of an open container of alcohol.
