A man seen throwing rocks at local businesses is tased after attempting to push officers into oncoming traffic.

Damage to the Nebraska Ballet Theatre and School at 2620 O St.

Officer Erin Spilker says police were sent to Nebraska Ballet Theatre and School at 2620 O St. just before 9 p.m. Sunday after a witness reported a man throwing rocks at the business’s windows.

Officers observed several windows had been damaged but found no signs of a suspect.

After canvassing the area, officers located a person matching a description provided by the caller throwing rocks at Eakes Office Solutions buildings at 110 O St.

” As officers approached the male, he began walking at the officers with his fists up, pushing them into O St. traffic as they tried to de-escalate the situation,” said Spilker. ” The male was irate, aggressive and advancing at officers.”

Eventually, an officer deployed a taser, which proved to be effective.

After being medically cleared, 39-year-old David Hefner was transported to jail for two counts of felony mischief.

Total damage to both buildings is estimated at $10,800.
