A Smithfield plant in Crete is reversing its decision to close down its plant and now says they’ll stay open with some employees beginning a half-day schedule today.
An email sent to employees notified them the plant was taking a new approach and will instead put certain workers on a “half-day” schedule starting today with the entire day moving to a similar schedule Thursday.
A source in close relations with the plant confirmed the plans to KLIN.
On Monday, Interim Director of the Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department Pat Lopez, had said the plant would be closed for at least two weeks amid concerns of a growing number of COVID- 19 infections – the same source also confirmed yesterday’s announcement.
